Let the Countdown(s) Begin!

I’ve got a couple of “events” to start looking forward to/planning for.  First being my birthday in a mere 2 days.  Yay, 29, yay.  The other being a much more pleasant event, which is our trip with Blake’s dad to New Orleans!!  I haven’t been since I turned 19 (Jesus, literally a decade), so I am quite looking forward to it.  We’re mainly going to see one of the final performances of a band called “The Radiators” which Blake’s dad has been following for like 15 years or something, but I’m still going to try to cram in all of the sight-seeing I missed out on 10 years ago (so long as I get a beignet at Café du Monde I figure I’ll be satisfied).  Then we’re headed to Vacherie, LA to stay at the Oak Alley Plantation for a little R&R!

I already checked the forecast on Accuweather and they’re forecasting a high of 76 degrees in Vacherie the day that we’ll be staying there.  I’ve already decided that I’m gonna park it on the sunporch of our cottage, order a pitcher of mint juleps, and probably not do a damn thing else till we leave.

I am definitely looking forward to this break from work.  Nothing pisses me off more than rolling up the blinds at work in the morning, and finding that there’s already someone waiting for me.  Is it really that urgent? I sell storage, not frigging emergency diabetes medicine or something.  You’re really that worried about finding a place to store all of your excess crap at 8 o’clock in the morning?  Ugh… it’s not a bad job; it’s just soul-crushingly boring like 85% of the time.  But then when it’s not boring I get pissed too because my 274th consecutive game of spider solitaire gets interrupted, so I guess it’s a catch 22. And now you’ve got all these people calling to find out when our next auction is, because they saw an episode of that dumbass “Storage Wars” show.
Not much else going on today.  I finally got around to cooking up a head of cabbage that’s been sitting in my fridge for awhile.  I just sautéed it with some onions and salt and pepper.  I can eat it straight, but it’s also good tossed with pasta or fried potatoes.  Yummy!

Had an easy dinner tonight; bean burritos with homemade guacamole.

Blake wanted me to help him organize the shop where he’s just begun restoration on the 1970 Chevelle we bought while on vacation last summer.  It was a bit of a mess…

…but we got it all fixed up.

It actually looks a lot more organized than these photos would have you believe.  Well, think I’m gonna settle down with a chocolate soy pudding cup and watch a little TV before turning in.  See ya tomorrow!
